An abra is a traditional boat made of wood. Abras are used to ferry people across the Dubai Creek in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Dubai’s abra have been transporting people across the creek for as long as anyone can remember. Notably, abras are used by 15 to 20 million passengers annually, and they are growing in popularity.
Travelling on a traditional Abra is a perfect way of crossing Dubai Creek from Deira to Bur Dubai. It is cheap at 1 AED and a lot of fun too or pay Dhs.100 to hire your own abra for an hour.
The Abras take about 20 people and when they are full they depart; they are the cheapest and fastest means of travelling between Deira and Bur Dubai and a great way of seeing the Creek from a different viewpoint. you’ll get to see a great view of the creek good for photography. it’s not expensive.
They travel between the water station at Shindagha/Al Ghubaiba on the Bur Dubai side, and the water station at Al Sabkha on the Deira side. The abras depart every few minutes. Try it once at least!
