At an estimated cost of US$ 32 billion, Dubai World Central (DWC) can be simply described as a mega project designed to support aviation, tourism, and logistics well into the future.
This multi-phase development is still under construction, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2017 with the expanded facility opening shortly afterwards following the successful completion of a thorough testing and trial program.
It will be an economic zone to support a number of activities including logistics, aviation, commercial, exhibition, humanitarian, residential and other related businesses around Al Maktoum International Airport with the planned annual capacity of 12 million tons of cargo and 160 million passengers.
We should be noting that the Al Maktoum International Airport is considered the heart and the main part of Dubai World Central. Once completed, this airport will be the world’s largest global gateway with capacity for more than 160 million passengers per year. It will also serve as a multi-modal logistics hub for 12 million tons of freight.
On the other hand, the DWC sub-development projects of DWC include:
*Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport
* Residential City
* Logistics City
* Enterprise Park
* Commercial City
* Aviation City
* Staff Village
* Golf City
