Dubai Port World: million marine tourist by 2020

Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Port World (DP World), said that Dubai has become one the best cities in the world in attracting marine tourism because of its tourism potentials that enable tourists to enjoy their trips there, pointing out that the development of the Rashid Port is a strong addition to Dubai’s tourism system, that is targeting to take its position in the global marine tourism.

In the framework of cooperation and partnership efforts, a meeting was held and brought together number of partners and officials such as  Ahmed Mahboob, Director of Dubai Customs, Hilal Saeed Al Marri as Director General of Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Emirates Airline officials and lots other, in which Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation revealed: “Dubai’s strategic vision for marine tourism aims to attract and host one million marine tourist and passenger to visit the UAE annually till 2020″,

He said that the marine season in Dubai peaks between November and  April, in which Rashid Port hosts a number of cruise ships, most are ships that anchor at the port for long periods of time and take as a permanent headquarter. Noting that this “go in line with our vision to attract a larger number of tourist shipping lines and encourage them to settle in Dubai”, as he announced.

With capacity to host and accommodate up to 7 mega cruise vessels at one time, Rashid Port has been the Middle East’s leading cruise port at the World Travel Awards, for the seventh consecutive year. The on-going development project at Rashid Port will strengthen Dubai’s position as a global city and the premier marine hub in the World.
