Dubai Opera will host the ceremony to honour winners of the Arab Reading Challenge (ARC) on October 24. The ceremony will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Arab Reading Challenge was launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, to encourage youngsters to read Arabic books has attracted up to 10 per cent of students in the Arab World.The ceremony will honour the winners of the challenge from 18 competitors who reached the fourth and final round.
The Arab Reading Challenge attracted more than 3.59 million students from 54 nationalities representing 30,000 schools who collectively read more than 150 million books. The winners will be given awards valued at Dh11 million worth of prizes at an awards ceremony at Dubai Opera next Monday.
Students from 21 countries, their parents, head teachers, government dignitaries and diplomats from home and abroad have been invited to attend.
