Under the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and as one of the newest initiatives in the city; Dubai Municipality launched Dubai Lamp Project in partnership with Philips Lighting.
In presence of Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality and Paolo Cervini, President, Philips Lighting Middle East and Turkey; Dubai Lamp was launched few days ago during the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2016) that was held at Dubai World Trade Center, taking part of the “green initiatives” designed to encourage sustainable development in Dubai.
The new developed lamps “will provide about 400 million dirhams of energy per year as soon as it is applied in Dubai”, according to Dubai Municipality. The lamps will be available as a family of 4 LED bulbs, and will be of “cool daylight” and “warm white” colors. They are also extremely durable with an average lifespan of up to 15 times longer than conventional lamps.
The initiative will include replacing conventional lamps by Dubai Lamps- which will be reducing energy used for lighting by up to 90 percent. The initiative will be also supplying Dubai with more than two million of the new efficient lamps by 2017.
