On its 15th session, and with the presence of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Princess Haya the wife of HH, delivered the keynote speech in the Arab Media Forum (AMF) that was held in Dubai on 10th of May (the first day). She dedicated her speech to talk about  the importance of “press freedom” and to call for lifting of all sanctions on the media in the region.

“I call for the lifting of restrictions on the fourth estate, the ‘media,’ so that media persons  can play their role in expressing the real image of the Arab world with credibility and respect for the law,” she said.

In relating to humanity, she talked about her husband, calling him “a pioneer in the world of social media”, and recalling his help for the Palestinians in the last Israeli war, and his help for people facing the Syrian crisis.

On the second day of the Arab Media Forum, Saudi princess and humanitarian Princess Ameerah Al Taweel, delivered a speech on the perception of Islam saying that a lot of people misunderstand the Islamic message and the good reality of Islam. Al-Taweel also stated that a lot more are misled by the terrorism activities that claim to be Islamic.

The princess pointed out to a study that was conducted between March 2015 and March 2016, on the searching of the word “Islam” on the web. The results were 97 million times; in which 93% of the searching was on twitter, 3% on news websites, 3% on forums, and 1% on Google.

The study conducted the 93% of the searching on Twitter for further results : 12% expressed negative feelings towards Islam, while only 5% expressed positive feelings and 83% showed neutral feelings.

She finally said that these figures indicate that there are lots who still hasn’t been introduced to the goodness of Islam and that people should do more effort introducing its goodness.
