Chairman of Public Health Pest control Department in Public Health Services Department at Dubai Municipality, eng. Hisham Abdul Rahman Al Yahya announced organizing an intensive campaign to combat mosquito in the emirate, that came after the huge rainfall amounts that fell on the UAE in the month of April. This eventually led to the rise of notifications the department received about the spread of mosquitoes among the state.
The survey included investigation processes in more than 300 thousand locations in the UAE during the last few months.
Al Yahya stated that a number of violations were issued against Pest control companies with fines reached to 100 thousand dirhams, for violating legislation issued in accordance with Local Order No. 11 of 2003, in regards of public health and safety of the community in Dubai.
Using modern technique traps, Al Yahya said that the department will increase insect control sites in the UAE’s ports in land, sea and air. This includes airports, seaports, horse stables, racetracks, public parks and nature reserves for early detection for other exotic pests in a try to prevent them from living and adapting in the environment of Dubai and the UAE.
Al Yahya stressed out that the department considers toxic pest reports- like snakes, scorpions, bees, wasps and spiders; as emergency reports and thus, the department responds to such reports within 24 hours.
